Join us Tuesday morning for an interactive zoom, or Thursday’s for our Facebook lives.

During the UK Lockdown our online services began. These weekly facebook live sessions, alongside further musical and educational input and membership to a private Facebook community have proven popular as many parents with little ones found them useful and supportive. Little Hart's Music Therapeutic Baby Music Groups
~ Therapeutic baby music groups ~

Why Therapeutic baby music?

These live music groups provide you with a supportive place to find your way in parenthood. Your little one will be surrounded by live music, played on real instruments; encouraging neuron connection and cognitive development. Both you and your baby will engage in the music together and your input will be supported and encouraged by the facilitator. As they grow they can move into the next stage group. All groups are designed with your baby’s developmental age in mind.

When are the groups?

All our sessions are on Tuesdays and are held at the Merstham Community Hub, Portland Drive, RH1 3HY

10.50 – 11.25 “Tinies” (from around 8 weeks or whenever you feel able to join in!)

11.55 – 12.30 “Baby Explorers” (for little ones who can sit unaided and are beginning to explore independently)

Do I have to be able to sing?

Absolutely not! Although singing is strongly encouraged as your baby will be very familiar with (and love) your voice (even if you think it’s awful!!)

How old does my baby have to be?

You are welcome to start with us as soon as you feel ready to be out and about. Your baby probably wont be ready to engage in much before around 8 weeks, but there is plenty for you to join in with before this time if you wish.

Our groups are developed around babies of a certain age so you should find a group to suit.

What’s different about LHM?

As a musician and music therapist Sarah always felt frustrated with the lack of live music in baby “music” groups when her children were tiny.

At Little Hart’s Music we play everything live, in the room with you, on real instruments, using our own singing voice. You are encouraged to join us in the music, but not forced! Your baby will experience a range of musical sounds, and be encouraged to explore and make their own musical and communicative input to the group.

The songs have been written especially for these groups allowing them to be developmentally appropriate and useful for you.

Our sessions take place in a calm environment, in which you and your baby are invited to share.

My baby has a SEN, can we still join?

Of course you can!

Sarah (our session facilitator) is a qualified Music Therapist and has worked with children and adults with disabilities throughout her career.

Her training has deepened her knowledge and understanding of delays and disabilities and as a therapist she can support you both to engage in the session in a way that works for you.

If you have any questions please do get in touch with Sarah.

Little Hart's Music Therapeutic Baby Music Groups
~ Therapeutic Groups for Toddlers ~

Why attend our sessions with your toddler?

At a time of their lives when communication is a desperate need but still a skill not yet honed music can be an invaluable tool.

Using live music and Makaton signing to help aid your little one’s communication skills gives you both new ways of being with each other.

When are the groups?

All our sessions are on Tuesdays and are held at the Merstham Community Hub, Portland Drive, RH1 3HY

9.45 – 10.20 “Boddlers” (designed for those little ones on the move: confidently crawling or toddling)

I’m not musical and I can’t sing….

Don’t panic!! Although singing is strongly encouraged as your little one will be very familiar with (and love) your voice (even if you think it’s awful!!), if this is your idea of a nightmare you don’t have to sing!! Engagement with your little one and the music is all we ask. And there are lots of interesting instruments to try so don’t worry about not knowing how something works.

My child has SEN, can we still come?

Of course you can!
